Penny, our black-and-white “Boston spaniel,” came to live with us five years ago this week. Penny was a 7-week-old Boston terrier/cocker spaniel mix who lived at the Franklin County Humane Society in Tennessee. I told her I wasn’t bringing home a dog if I had a bad feeling about it.
