Pup fiction - Louisville Courier-Journal(hypoallergenic dogs)
Leickly, professor of clinical pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and allergy and immunology specialist at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. James Sublett, a Louisville allergist who is a managing partner of Family Allergy & Asthma and vice chairman of the indoor environments committee of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, agreed that the hypoallergenic dog is a myth. Sublett, who also is clinical professor and section chief of pediatric allergy and immunology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, suggested that the new first family should make certain Malia is allergic to dogs. Leickly thinks it can be unfair to a child who has severe allergies and to a pet to allow them to develop a relationship if there is a potential they will have to be permanently separated later — because of severe asthma attacks, for example.
