After spending over ten years in key marketing and development positions for luxury beauty brands such as Estée Lauder, Clinique and Unilever, Renée Ryan left to successfully develop Ryan Basics, LLCa full-service cosmetics and fragrance consulting firm where she worked with exclusive clients including Cornelia Day Resort and John Varvatos. Sexy Beast, Ryan’s luxury “pet beauty” line, includes a mixture of sprays, powders and cleansing products that are meant to keep dogs looking and smelling fresh, even between grooming appointments. And then the more I started researching the pet industry, I started looking into regulatory, and I realized that there weren’t any kind of regulatory standards at allthere are no labeling regulations, you don’t have to list ingredients. You can basically put anything in these products, so that’s kind of what made me decide that I really wanted to do something that was safe and tested (not on animals) so that the products could be gentle and hypoallergenic.
