Mickey, formal name Champion Dominoâs Once in a Blue Moon, relaxes with owner Sharon Newcomb on Thursday at her home outside Santa Fe. Mickey placed top in his breed this week at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, and lives a ‘life of royalty. Mickey has the option of sleeping on a sheepskin rug, on a dog bed in the master bedroom, under the covers with his owner, Sharon Newcomb, and her husband David, an architect â” or “wherever the little darling wants to be. The dog also has soft, pillowy perches around the house â” in the bathroom, living room, in front of the TV and in a dog room â” for snoozing. At meal time, Mickey eats a raw diet of organic venison, rabbit, lamb and chicken (including drumettes and necks), sits at the dinner table â” if all eight chairs are not filled with people â” and gets “tidbits” of meat or fish leftovers. Fortunately for Mickey, Newcomb is a self-confessed dog junkie â” the kind of girl who brought home stray canines.
