The shaggy gray and white dog belongs to Frances Poris, a special education teacher at the school who trained him to work as a therapy dog with her students. One girl said she doesnât like reading out loud and hoped Quincy would make her more comfortable, Poris said. She had fallen in love with bearded collies, which also happen to be hypo-allergenic, after one of her former students introduced her to his familyâs dog, so Poris and her husband drove to Pennsylvania to get one. Quincy appears on the schoolâs television show, with Poris reminding the school community to always ask before petting Quincy, or giving them facts such as Quincy getting an extra heavy coat in the winter, just like people do.
